About Elisha Baldwin

A Patriot of the American Revolution for NORTH CAROLINA. DAR Ancestor #: A005242

It's looking more and more as if Elisha is the correct father. Still checking.Land records show Elisha owning land along Potato Creek. Records also show Joseph buying land near Potato Creek from "his brother Isaac."

Life Sketch

Elisha Baldwin

Elisha was the first of his Baldwin name to come to this area. It was Wilkes, then Ashe, then Alleghany (1859).

He is probably buried on his land here. He would be buried with other family members. There was no other cemetery then.

He married:

1 unknown, maybe buried in Wilkes Cty NC

2 a widow Laxton. Probably Margaret or Mary. (Margaret per IRENE BALDWIN RESEARCH) She came to the wedding with a son Thomas Laxton b 1763.

The Laxtons were from Wilkes.

The Baldwins lived on and near to Bakers Ridge in Piney Creek, NC surrounded by Sizemores, Bakers, Harts, Osbornes, Landreths, Mulkeys, etc.

Elisha is in the DAR patriot index birth 1755 death 1820. This may all be wrong.

The Patriot Index of the Daughters of American Revolutionary War states: Baldwin, Elisha, birth: abt 1755, Service: NC, Rank: Patriotic Service, Death: NC abt. 1820, Patriot Pensioned: NO, Widow Pensioned: NO, children Pensioned: NO, Heirs pensioned: NO, spouse (1) X unknown.
