About Elizabeth “Hester” Grant
Not the same as Hestor “Hetty” Mauzey
John Grant was born aout 1702 in Virginia and married first to Hester Foote in 1727 at St. Paul's parish of Stafford, VA. They had two children together before she died about 1736. Secondly, he married Margaret Watts, the widow of William Strother. They then sold the Strother "Ferry Farm" to Capt. Augustine Washington, the father of President George Washington. John himself died about 1749 in King George county. He had two living children with his second wife Mary Watts.
From the Virginia Magazine of History & Biography, Vol. 7, page 75. Hester Foote Mauzy married John Grant, and before May 25, 1746 she had died. She had two children with John Grant. Their son was William Grant and their daughter was Ann Grant. This record is posted in the MEDIA section.
