<nowiki>------------------------------------------</nowiki> Hugh's wedding to Elizabeth Powell was performed by Rev. William Trail of the North of Ireland and is said to have been the first wedding in the county in which a Presbyterian minister officiated. "ye twenty first day of December, Anno Domini, one thousand six hundred eighty three." William Traile was one of the earliest Presbyterian ministers. He arrived in the Colonies shortly after Reverend Frances Makemie, founder of the Presbyterian Church in America. Some references suggest that the marriage was actually in 1693.
