Per the 1860 Census Emma Stubs (Stubbs), 7, was living with her parents James S., 39, Rachel, 35, and her siblings: William, 13, James, 12, Millard, 10, Manning, 5, John, 4, Mary Ann, 3, Martha, 1, and George Ann, 1 month old, in Tattnall County, Georgia. Emma's father James listed that he was born in Bulloch County, while her mother stated that she was born in Tattnall County, Georgia.

Per the 1870 Census Emma Stubbs, 17, was living with her mother, Rachel, 40, and her siblings: Jasper, 16, John, 14, Mary Ann, 13, Martha, 12, and Georgian, 7, in Tattnall County, Georgia. Emma's year of birth is estimated as 1853. Her mother Rachel is listed as a Farmer.

Per the 1880 Census Emma Sands (Stubbs), 27, was living with her husband John J. Sands, 29, and their children: James J., 6, Horrace V. 4, Thomas M.,2, William A., 0, in Dog Fennell, Tattnall, Georgia. A George Washington, 16, was also listed as living in the household and was listed as being a farm laborer. John J. Sands listed his occupation as Farmer and estimated his year of birth as 1851. John J. Sands stated that he was born in Georgia and that so were his parents. Emma E. Sands lists her occupation as Keeping House and estimated her year of birth as 1853. Emma E. stated that she was born in Georgia and that so were her parents. It is unknown exacty what happened to Emma E. but she died on February 3, 1896. Her husband John J. married a second wife in approximately 1896.

Emma Sands (Stubbs) is buried at the Beards Creek Cemetery in Glennville, Tattnall County, Georgia.
