Ensign John Browne circa 1620-1662

He was the son of John Browne Sr. of Salem, Taunton, and Rehoboth and Dorothy Beauchamp. He married twice - first to Anne Dennis (or Martha Thompson), with whom he had four children: John, Lydia, Hannah/Annah, and Joseph. Anne died before 1659 when he married Lydia Buckland, with whom he had ONE child.

Ensign John, Jr., born in England, died last of March, 1662; settled in Rehoboth and had these children:

  1. John, born last Friday in September, 1650; married Anne Mason
  2. Lydia, August 5 or 6, 1656; married William Parker
  3. Annah, January 29, 1657;
  4. Joseph, April 9, 1658; married Hannah Fitch
  5. Nathaniel, June 9, 1661 in Rehoboth, Mass; m. Sarah Jenckes 1680 Pawtucket, RI; d. 13 Nov 1739 Providence, RI married 1) Sarah Jenks 2) Hannah Matthews

ENSIGN JOHN BROWN #2 (about 1650–1709) was born in the Plymouth Colony. His wife was Lydia Buckland, married probably by 1650 based on the birth of their first child. He died on November 24, 1709 in Swansea ,Bristol, Massachusetts.

His first wife is unknown. NEHGS "Great Migration" Series, Vol 1.

His second wife was Lydia Bucklin, daughter of William Bucklin/Buckland. The marriage date is possibly Nov 5,1659 according to some records, and definitely after April 9,1658 when his second son (Joseph) by his first wife was born.

Children(by first marriage): John Brown, Lydia Brown, Hannah Brown, and Joseph Brown.
