About Eva Martha Kimble
The youngest of 11 children. The family had moved from Chevoit and Cincinnati, Ohio to Missouri then Iowa in about 1851. She is listed with parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters in 1880 census at Wyaconda Township Cark County, Missouri, age 16. They then moved on westward to Jasper County, Iowa. After attending a traveling circus in Newton, Iowa with William Hall Newton, being 14 years of age, Eva and William were married. William was the twin son of Joseph and Jane Newton. The family made their home in Newton, Iowa. 5 daughters were born; Edith May Sep 27 1875, Lydia Jane April 7 1877, Luella Bell March 16 1879, Almira Pearl Aug 20, 1880, Eva Grace March 14 1882 (two youngest died days apart in April of 1882 from measles at ages 1 1/2 and 1 month) They moved on to Oregon in about 1883, making their home on Sardine Creek, Gold Hill, Oregon near the homestead of Eva's parents, Tobias and Lydia Miller. A son was stillborn on Oct 6 1884, Anna Nora born November 29 1887, William Tobias Sept 3 1889, Bessie Fay April 15 1892, and Mary Ethel Feb 2 1897. After her husband William's death in 1909, she lived in Santa Cruz, California and Ashland, Oregon. On Oct 4 1917 she married Al Kimball; they later divorced. Being in poor health while making her home with her daughter (Mary Sutherland) in Portland, Oregon, she passed away at age 82. She is buried in the family plot in Rock Point Cemetery, Gold Hill, Oregon.
