Bishop Elias Comes Here for Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Lamis Lamas, 53, wife of Charles Petro Lamas, who died at her residence, 38 East Fifty-second street, Friday night after a brief illness, were conducted at 3 o'clock at St. Pauls's Greek Orthodox Church by the Rt. Rev. Gerasimos Elias, former rector, assisted by the Rev. John Hondras, rector. Interment will be in Greenwich section of Bonaventure cemetary.
Active pallbearers were Naju Kolgaklis, Manuel Mamalakis, Nick Mamalakis, Gregory Carellas, Basil Leopold, Paul Rousakis, John Nichols and Miller Moses.
Honorary pallbearers were Theo Kolgaklis, Peter D. Barbour, Jim Carellas, John Moses, George Cubbedge, R.L. Thompson, William Bacas and Peter Kikenes.
Born in Greece, October 1, 1890, Mrs. Lamas has been a resident of Savannah for the past thirty-three years. Well-known and interested in all civic affairs, she was most active in the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Bishop Elias, who arrived in Savannah this morning to conduct the services, was rector at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church before being ordained Bishop of Chicago. Mrs Lamas's son, Petro, also arrived this morning, flying home from Italy where he has been stationed with the army.
