Francis was the son of John Doughty a yeoman of Duddlewick, Stottesdon, Shropshire and Anna Holland daughter of William Holland of Burwarton, Shropshire. [1] He was baptised at Farlow, Shropshire on 30 Nov 1576. [2]
He married Margaret Barker on 24 Jun1600 at Westbury on Trym, Gloucestershire. [3]
He had his will drawn up on 16 May 1634, describing himself as being a gent of Hampsteed in the parish of Oldburie (Oldbury on Severn), Gloucestershire. [4]He made bequests to and mentioned:
- son Frances
- daughter Francis
- her son Spencer Ashley
- John Doughty, the son of my daughter Margaret
- my son's Frances's children Mary, Frances and Eliah
- my daughter Elizabeth
Francis died before 30 October 1634 when his will was probated. [5]

- Margaret Doughty. She was born 1603 at Hempstead, Gloucester, England, England. She married John Dauyes.
- Elizabeth Doughty. She was born 11 Oct 1607 at Hempstead, Gloucester, England, England and died Abt 1650 at MA. She married William Cole.
- Jacob Doughty. He was born Abt 1608 at Hempstead, Gloucester, Englan and died Abt 1630 at Gloucester, England.

1634 Will:
- "Francis Doughtie of Hempsteed in the parish of Oldsbury and County and Diocese of Gloucester, gent., 16 May 1634, proved 31 October, 1634.
- To my son Francis my white horse or nag.
- To Spencer Achley, my daughter Frances' son, twenty shillings, to be paid by my executrix within six months next after my decease.
- To John Dauyes, the son of my daughter Margaret, ten shillings, to be paid in the like manner.
- To the three children of my son Francis, that is to say, Mary, his daughter and Francis and Eliah, his sons, thirty shillings to be paid in like manner.
- The rest of my goods, moveable and unmoveable whatsoever, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth (excepting what I have passed by my deed, bearing date 15 May 1634 made to certain uses to Humfrey Hooke. Alderman of the City of Bristol, Thomas Lloyd of the same, Adam Baynham of Yate gent. and William Maye of Cherefield gent., this excepted) and I make my daughter Elizabeth my whole and sole executrix etc.”
- One of the witnesses was Fr. Doughtie, ministr. Seager, 86. [1]
