Ann Pope has been removed as the mother of Francis Littlefield and the wife of Francis Littlefield.

Whilst Ann Pope is the daughter of Edmond Pope and Elizabeth Newdigate-11 of Buxted/Little Horsted in Sussex, she actually married John Delve not Francis Littlefield.

The Wills of her parents, Edmond Pope in 1550 and Elizabeth Pope, widow in 1559, both refer to their daughter 'Ann Delve', with her husband John Delve being named either Executor or Overseer. The Wills also name the testator's Delve grandchildren - Johane, James, Elizabeth and Mary.

Concerning his will:

Was there a dispute between Francis and his son Edmund OR was Edmund out of favour as he recieved only 20s OR did he receive his inheritance, perhaps when he married, earlier to start him in business ?

Francis's will was made 21 Oct 1618 and proved 21 Nov 1618. Edmund had married Agnes (Anne, Annis) Austen 16 Oct 1614. Genealogist Walter Goodwin Davis suggests that property was 'probably' settled on Edmund at the time of his marriage. [All from 'Ancestry of Annis Spear1]

Clothier by trade & owned a fulling mill. He lived in the center of the village known as 'Barry's Cottage'. They had a servant which is mentioned in Francis's will, Elizabeth Carter.

Titchfield is a most attractive old-world village. It formerly covered a much larger area, extending to Southampton water & solent. The church contains an ancient & beautiful monument to the Earls of Southampton, one of whom was the friend & patron of Shakespeare. Titchfield place, one of the seat of this family, was one of the Abbeys dissolved by Henry VIII, but is now merely a picturesque ruin.
