Schenectady History

Husband of Elizabeth Groot, he lived 59 years. Although his burial site is unknown, it is likely that he is buried in a Glenville or Schenectady cemetery. He was a graduate of Albany University and served 4 years as a private in Col. Wemple's 2nd Albany Militia during the revolution. He left a will dated 6/28/1769. He was a slave owner and left his wife among other things a "negro" named Dean for the remainder of her life. In 1770 his house lot was on the south side of Front St., second west of Church St. Note: Fifth Great Grandfather
