Geoffrey de Say, V

Biography

Geoffrey de Say, V was born circa 1181. His parents were Geoffrey de Saye, III, Lord of West Greenwich II, Surety of the Magna Carta and Alice de Cheney.

Geoffrey [did not] married Margaret or Margery de Briwere. Together they had the following children:

William III de Saye, Governor of Rochester Castle, Lord of West Greenwich.

Confirmation that Geoffrey married Hawise de Clare is given by a charter of about 1235 issued by his widow Hawise de Clare and his son William relating to property in Edmonton, Middlesex. There is also a record dated 1215 of Geoffrey having knights' fees held from the Earl of Clare by "free marriage".

He died in 1230 in Poitou.
