Gerrit Lubbertsen1,2 b. circa 1639, d. between 1704 and 1709

   Mother*: Divertje Cornelis2 b. bt 1600 - 1610, d. b Nov 1681
   Gerrit Lubbertsen was born circa 1639 at probably Rensselaerwijck, New Netherland.3
   He married Geertruy Willems van Boerum, daughter of Willem Jacobson and Geertje Hendricks.1,3
   Gerrit Lubbertsen probably died between 1704 and 1709 at Jamaica, Queens Co., Long Island, New York.
   Also known as Gerrit Lubbertsz.4
   He purchased a farm at Flatbush, Long Island on 12 Dec 1660. He bought and sold various other Flatbush properties and eventually made his home in the New Lots section. He is on the assessment rolls at Flatbush in 1675 and 1683. He was named in the 1677 Andros patent for New Lots and the 1685 Dongan patent for Flatbush. On 20 Nov 1663 Gerrit Lubbertsen was one of the relations of Jan Cornelis Buys and his wife Eybetje Lubberts who forgave Cornelis Jansen Vanderveer for accidently killing Buy's son Lubbert Janse. On 11 JUne 1666, Gerrit and his stepfather Jan Vanderbilt were named guardians of the children of Gerrit's deceased sister, Tryntje Lubberts.
   Gerrit bought and sold land in Flatbush on 5 April 1690, but probably moved to Jamaica, Long Island at that time. He owned land in Jamaica prior to 27 Oct 1692. His name appears in the Jamaica town records every year through 1702. He was a baptismal sponsor at the Jamaica Dutch Church in March 1703. A 1707 entry mentions his "right" to own town lands. He is not on the 1709 Jamaica tax list.5
   He witnessed the baptism of Marritie Janse Van Blarcom , daughter of Jan Lubbertszen and Magdaleentje Theunis, on 30 December 1661 at Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, (sponsors Gerrit Lubbertszen, Hans Lubbertszen).6
   Gerrit Lubbertsen and Geertruy Willems van Boerum were members of the at Reformed Protestant Dutch Church, Flatbush, Kings Co., Long Island, New York, in 1677 at Midwood.7
   Gerrit Lubbertsen and Geertruy Willems van Boerum were members of the at Reformed Protestant Dutch Church, Flatbush, Kings Co., Long Island, New York, on 19 November 1679 at "The New Land or Altena" (New Lots).8
   Gerrit Lubbertsen witnessed the baptism of Anna Mary Frederickse Van Liew , daughter of Frederick Hendrickszen Van Liew and Dina Jans, on 29 April 1685 at Old First Dutch Reformed Church, Breuckelen (Brooklyn), Kings Co., Long Island, New York, (witnesses: Geertreut Willem, Gerrit Lubbertsen).9
   Gerrit Lubbertsen took the Oath of Allegiance in 1687 as a native.5
   Descendants adopted the name Gerritsen; or Garrison.2
   He witnessed the baptism of Hilletie Laforse , daughter of Nicholas Laforse and Geertje Gerrits, on 30 March 1703 at First Reformed Dutch Church, Jamaica, Queens Co., Long Island, New York, (sponsors Gerrit Lubbertsen, Tryntje Kockevaar).10
