HARRY MEAD NELSON
Born October 8, 1930 in Newkirk, Oklahoma to Chester and Ruvella Nelson, passed away February 11, 2013 at home and at peace in Riverside, CA.

Harry Nelson attended local schools in Oklahoma and graduated from Newkirk High in 1948. That same year, at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country from June 1948 to August 1953 during the Korean War.

Following his military service, Harry went to college at Oklahoma A&M followed by Law School at the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from Law School in June 1958 and became a member of the Oklahoma Bar.

Following his admission, he took and passed the Colorado bar exam and moved to Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy. They were married April 15, 1959 and moved to California where he took and passed the California Bar exam.

After practicing for several firms, he joined the firm of Herlihy and Herlihy in Los Angeles and became manager of the San Bernardino office. He also managed the firm's Santa Ana office for many years before finishing his career in his Riverside office.

Harry loved fly fishing, traveling the world with his wife, spending time at the family's trailer on the beach at El Morro near Laguna Beach, and most of all, golf. He looked forward each week to his Saturday game with all of his buddies.

In 2009 Harry and Dorothy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his three sons Joseph, Steven ("Gus") and Will Nelson; and his four grandchildren Amber, Jack, Lucy and Tessa, who loved their Papa very much.

Services will be held Saturday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Andrews Newman Center, 105 Big Springs Rd, Riverside. There will be a private interment at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Meals on Wheels or the charity of your choice.
