Henry Thomas, Sr. was born in 1758 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He served in the Revolutionary War in the Virginia Continental line 1777-1780. About 1778, he married Rachel Stillwell. They moved to Sumner County, Tennessee shortly after the Revolutionary War. In 1827 he and his family moved to Calloway County, Kentucky, and and in 1835 they became Mormon converts. He died in 1837 in Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri. Some of his family left the Church and settled in Johnson County, Illinois. Others came with the Mormon pioneers to Utah.
