Herman Bloch

Herman was a St. Louis Missouri Jewish leader.

In 1849 Ludwig Schwartzkopf, along with Daniel Block, Solomon Steindler, John Fleishman, Moses Epstein, Hyman Epstein, M. Sternbach, Herman Block, Jacob Wachtel, Adolph Wachtel, Joseph Katz, Nathan Aschner, Adolph Aschner, Adolph Klauber, Julius Augstein, Joseph Levi, Moses Brumi, Ephraim Fischel, M.A. Taussig, Daniel Winkler, Benard Singer and Isidor Bush started the B'nai B'rith Congregation in St. Louis.

His tombstone in New Mount Sinai Cemetery in St. Louis states his death date of July 11, 1890 and his age at death of 74, giving a calculated birth of 1816. The records in the cemetery published online indicate he was born in Bohemia. Interred in the same plot, number 3-13, are Frank Jr., Frank, Infant son of Frank, Esther, and Hannah born in 1816 also in Bohemia.
