By 16/10/1803 Israel and Elizabeth marriage had broken down (Sydney Gazette 16/10/1803 threatening legal action on any person who harbours or shelters his wife) and then Israel "sold" Elizabeth to Henry BALDWIN for "Six bushels of wheat and a large black inhabitant of the stye" (Sydney Gazette October 1803)

Israel Rayner came to the colony as a free man on the Nile in 1801, bringing with him his wife, Elizabeth, and his daughter Jemima. He received his grant of land of 100 acres on March 31, 1802 and settled down to become a farmer, though he was a shoemaker by trade. Two children were born to him and Elizabeth in the colony, then his wife left him and went to live at Wilberforce with Henry Baldwin.
