MADISONVILLE, Ky. ? James Polk, 91, of Madisonville, died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was born on March 29, 1913, in Starkville, Miss., to the late Anderson and Mary Dell Adams Polk. He was a member of Eastview Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville where he served as a deacon and member of the male chorus. He retired from Chrysler Corp. where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing and singing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carla Polk.
He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Minor Polk of Madisonville; a daughter, Paulette Moore of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters, Callie Mae Polk of New York, Lillie Pearle Woolfork of Peoria, Ill., and Luella Mason and Ann Caudle, both of Indianapolis; one brother, Charles Polk of Indianapolis; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Eastview Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville with the Rev. Norris E. Mills officiating. Burial will be at Cumberland Hill Presbyterian Cemetery in Providence, Ky.
Pallbearers will be William Miller, Raymond Nichols, Jerry Mason, Marvin Davis, Charles Polk Jr. and Corrie Polk.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until the service time at the church.

Services for James Polk, 91, of Madisonville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Eastview Missionary Baptist Church sanctuary in Madisonville. Burial followed in Cumberland Hill Presybterian Cemetery in Providence.
Mr. Polk died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was a member of Eastview Missionary Baptist Church in Madsonville, where he served as a deacon and member of the male chorus. He retired from Chrysler Corp. where he worked for over 30 years. He was also a U.S. World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Minor Polk; a daughter, Paulette Moore of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Charles Polk of Indianapolis, IN; four sisters, Callie Mae Polk of New York, Luella Mason and Ann Caudle, both of Indianapolis, and Lillie Pearle Woolfork of Peoria, IL; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Elliott Mortuary in Madisonville was in charge of local arrangements.
