About James Rice

James Rice (son of Thomas, grandson of Edmund), born 6 Mar 1669. Married Sarah Stone, bone 14 Feb 1675, daughter of Daniel and Mary (Ward) Stone of Sudbury (MA). Resided at Marlborough, where the births of 4 of his children are recorded. He was of Sudbury 1706, whence he removed to Worcester about 1716, and died there 14 Oct 1730, aged 61 years 7 months and 8 days - not 71, as said in "The Boston Gazette". He had 100 acres of land in Worcester granted him in 1718, of which town he was a proprietor.
James Rice took administration of the estates of his sons, Daniel and James, 19 June 1730. Jotham, his eldest son, took administration of the estate of his father, and the unsettled estates of his brothers, 23 Nov 1730. Barzilai Rice and Beulah Rice chose their brother Tyrus for their guardian 7 Nov 1733.
