James, Lord Ross of Hawkhead, married Jean Sempill. He and his wife are mentioned on 23 March 1582, in a quitclaim issued by Alan Lockhart of Cleghorn and his wife Elizabeth Ross, who was their daughter. Registrum Magni Sigilli Regum Scotorum.
