About Jane Barron

Biography [as set out below from WikiTree re: Jane (Grugan) Barron (abt. 1823 - 1896)]

n the 1851 census Jane is listed as aged 28, born in Armagh Ireland, making her birth c1823. Also in the household is a widowed servant called Mary Glowgan aged 73 (birth c1778) also born in Armagh.

Jane Drougan a spinster of Cotton Street and the daughter of Peter Drougan a labourer, married Thomas Barron a shoemaker of 8 Cornwall Street and the son of Lancelot Barron a Tailor at Manchester Cathedral on 14 Jul 1845. Both shown as of full age and previously unmarried with Jane just making a mark rather than a signature which may account for the surname not matching her other records.

The Civil Birth records for children Thomas, Mary Jane, one of the Eleanors, George and one of the Williams record her maiden name as Grogan. For son Lancelot it is Growgan. For the other Eleanor it is Groggan. For the other William it is Grugan.[3]

1881 census: Lived at 3 Tower St. Stockton on Tees.[4]

A John Grogan lived in M'bro around the same time. Was it her brother?
