Jeremiah Devine (4), was part of Lt. John Bailie's party of 256 people, who arrived on the Chapman.

The party originated in London and departed Gravesend, Kent, England - 3 December 1819. Arrived Table Bay, Cape Town - 17 March 1820. Final Port - Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth - 10 April 1820.

Area allocated to the party - Wellington and Palmiet Rivers, Cuylerville.

Jeremiah was accompanied by his Father Timothy (a carpenter) (33), Mother Eleanor Jones (30), and siblings John (11), Bridget (6), and Catherine (2).

They lived at Fort Beaufort.
