Jessie was the daughter of Rev. Peter and Frances Taylor Hatcher. She married Rev. Doctor F. Lowry on Sep. 5, 1906 in Robeson county, North Carolina.
Her older sister, Sally Helen Hatcher married Doctor's older brother, Rev. Edmond Lowry. Sally is also buried at Hopewell.
The following was taken from the Oct. 13, 1941 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mrs. D. F. Lowry, 53, died early Sunday at her home in Pembroke after several weeks' illness, and funeral services were to be conducted this morning from the residence, with burial in Hopewell cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. D. F. Lowry, pastor of Pembroke parish, in the North Carolina Methodist conference; four sons, Earl Lowry of Atlanta, Ga., Kermit, Fred and Bruce Lowry of Pembroke; and four daughters, Miss Lessie Lowry of Oregon, Miss Ouida Lowry of East Moline, Ill., Mrs. Robert Evans of Nashville, Tenn., and Miss Cynthia B. Lowry of Pembroke; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Lowry was a native of Marlboro county, S. C. She had been a resident of Pembroke for the past eight years.
