"For more than fifty years, William John Bale was active in local politics in Green County and the Kentucky State Senate. For 12 years he served as Assessor of Taxes in the county, and was elected several times as a member of the Lower House of the General Assembly from his district, composed of Green and Taylor Counties. His first term in the Kentucky State Senate began after a special election in 1896, in which he was elected over Dr. C.J. Walton of Munfordville located in Hart County...
"William John was born April 20, 1843, the youngest of six sons and six daughters. His parents were Reverend John Bale and his wife, Diana Jane Lewis Bale, known as "Dimmie" to family and friends...
"William John and Harriet Welden Bale had eight children: Samuel Whitfield, Charles Simpson, Ossian T, Wilshire, Wallace, John, Minnie J. and Lou."
