About John Basil Knott
I, Basil Knot being weak in body but solid in mind (Thanks be to God) do make this my last Will and Testiment as follows.
l I give unto my son James at my death my land (to wit) the place I now live on being thirty Acres, and my son James is to pay back to my other five children Susanah Rigs, Polly Brewer, Nancy Grayson, Betsy Newton and Clement Knot their proprotionable part of what the land is worth in property, and my persoal estate to be divided equaly amoung my children but let it be understood that all my estate both real and personal is to remain in the property of my wife Mary for her support as long as she lives unless she decides to give up any part or the whole to the children in the manner aboved mentioned. I chose James Knot and Mary my wife as exec. to the above estate given under my hand and sealed with my seal this ninth day of August one thousand eight hundred eleven.
Will was proven on 18 Nov 1817 in Nelson Co. by the oaths of Nicholas Langsford and Thomas Aud and wuscribing witness thereto and order to be recorded an on the motion of James Knot one of the executors therein named, he having given bond with Nichalas Langsford and Zachariah Aud his securities in the amt. of $100. condition as prescribed by law.
