- Reference: MyHeritage Family Trees - SmartCopy: Jan 9 2020, 15:08:51 UTC
Josiah was born about 1739. He is the son of Thomas Bass and Elizabeth Howlett. He passed away before October 22, 1812.
Josiah is on the tithables list for Chesterfield County, Virginia in 1756 with Thomas Bass, Sr. (probably his father). He is again on the list in 1762. Also listed on it are Thomas, Henry, Christopher, and Joseph Bass; possibly brothers or other relatives, Josiah could not have had sons old enough to be listed.
In Virginia's Colonial Soldiers, the County Militia Roster for Chesterfield County are listed:
4 June 1756, William Bass, Capt. 1 Dec 1758, William bass, Capt. 4 May 1770, Josiah Bass, M.C.; Henry Bass, M.C. (brothers?)Josiah probably married Elizabeth Robertson about 1770 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. By 1800 Josiah and his family had moved to Green County, Kentucky. He appears on the Kentucky Tax Lists, 1799-1801 (the "Second Census" of Kentucky) in Green County. Also on the list appear to be his sons, John, Josiah, Jr., Nathan, Peter, and Thomas Bass -- all living in Green County.
On 22 October 1812 an inventory was filed for the estate of Josiah Bass in Green County, Kentucky. Josiah died before that date, but the exact date of death is unknown.
