About Marcus "Mark" Lewis Gerstle
Mark wanted to be a lawyer and went to Harvard (most unusual for anyone from California to go to Harvard in those days). Together with his cousin, Richard, Sloss he joined the firm Chickering, Thomas and Gregory which became Chickering, Thomas, Gregory, Gerstle and Sloss, but then, much to his father's disappointment, became a businessman and investor. He wrote a memoir of the period ( "Memories, Mark Lewis Gerstle, May 28th 1943).
Gerstle-Bennett Wedding

Mark Gerstle Weds in Reno
San Francisco, Aug 18--Mark L. Gerstle and his bride, the former Mrs. Genevieve Mills Bennett, of Long Island, N.Y., were honeymooning today following their wedding yesterday at Reno.
Marriage of the couple united two prominent families, both well-known here. Gerstle, president of the General Metals Recovery Corporation and the Townsend Company, has been a widower for two years. Mrs. Bennett was recently divorced from her third husband, Benno Hart Jr. in Paris.
The couple will make their home here, with Bryon Bennett, Mrs. Bennett’s son by a former marriage. She was previously married to two other San Franciscans, Dr. Sidney Dannenbaum and Raine Bennett.
The marriage yesterday came only a few months after the announcement that Gerstle’s engagement to Mrs. Annabelle Lee, widow of Don Lee, automobile dealer, had been broken.
