  • ' Margaret Maxwell married, firstly, Archibald Douglas, 6th Earl of Angus, son of George Douglas, Master of Angus and Elizabeth Drummond, on 9 April 1543.1 She married, secondly, Sir William Baillie of Lamington before September 1560.1 She died on 31 January 1593/94.2 Her will was probated on 15 May 1594 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3
  • ' She was the daughter of Robert Maxwell, 4th Lord Maxwell and Janet Douglas.1 As a result of her marriage, Margaret Maxwell was styled as Countess of Angus on 9 April 1543. From 9 April 1543, her married name became Douglas. From before September 1560, her married name became Baillie.1

  • ' Robert Maxwell, 4th Lord Maxwell was born circa 1493.2 He married, firstly, Janet Douglas, daughter of Sir William Douglas, 6th of Drumlanrig and Elizabeth Gordon, after 4 July 1509.3 He married, secondly, Agnes Stewart, daughter of James Stewart, 1st Earl of Buchan and Margaret Murray, between 1520 and 15 November 1525.4 He died on 9 July 1546.4
