The Scots Peerage account of the Douglas Earls of Angus does not identify her mother, The Scots Peerage I: 193 although the Scots Peerage account of the Ruthven Earls of Gowrie identifies her as the unnamed daughter of an unnamed Stewart of Traquair. Scots Peerage IV: 261 Stirnet identifies the maternal grandfather of Janet Douglas as James Stewart, the first laird of Traquair. However, this should not be regarded as certain. Stirnet: Stewart 19
