Disputed Identity

Virginia Historical magazine: Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents: John Upton's widow, Margaret, married Thomsa Lucas. Near the end of his article a statement is made that it is probable that she had married before Col. Upton, to ? Underwood, and that her daughter Mary Underwood married Capt. Thomas Hawkins.

Thomas Hawkins first wife, Mary, was either a daughter of Thomas Lucas, Sr., or or of Captain John Upton, whose widow, Margaret, married Thomas Lucas, Sr. The latter, in his will, proved in Rappahannock C., 1673, names his son-in-law, Captain Thomas Hawkins, and his grandchild, Mary Hawkins
