Research notes --

I found 2 marriage registers for John and Mary. They were married 28 Apr 1899 in East Bridgewater, Mass. In both registers, Mary is listed as 22 years old. This would place her birth year in 1875-6.

Both registers show the names of the couples' parents. John's parents are listed as John B Shepard and "Julia (St. Dennis)". Mary's are Victor De Laura and "Jessie (Sears)". I'm guessing that the registrar misheard "Jacinta Chaves" as "Jessie Sears".
