8. Mary, born about 1672, died at Newport, Rhode Island, October 3, 1707. She married, about 1691, Nathaniel Sheffield, a native of Braintree, Massachusetts, who removed to Newport, Rhode Island. He was deputy from Newport for 1699, 1701, 1702, 1709, 1710, 1711, 1713, and 1718; captain, 1702; general treasurer, 1705 to 1708; inspector of the transcription of the laws of the colony in 1699; and major of Groat, alias Foot, Island from 1710 to 1716. He married (second) Catharine Gould Clarke, and died at Newport, November 12, 1729.
