About Merrilyn Walker
Merrilyn Evans Walker
Merrilyn Evans grew up in Salt Lake City in the lovely two story house of her grandfather Evans at 943 Lake Street. She was the identical twin of Carol. Twins are always interesting and Merrilyn doubly so. Loving parents believed in work, play, learning and seeking the spiritual, a great motivator for a receptive child.
She graduated from the University of Utah at 20 with highest honors and as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the honor fraternity. She was happy in her chosen profession, teaching. She taught third grade five years before and two years after her marriage to Clinton Mitchell Walker of Lewisville, Idaho. A brilliant computer minded Clinton earned his PhD in psychology with a minor in Engineering. He has served on the boards of numerous corporations, developed many programs for the computer, and both he and Merrilyn have enjoyed their friendly and working arrangements with Bill Lear the Lear Jet inventor.
Merrilyn likes to look back to the nostalgic sumer of 1957 when she bicycled through New England with the American Youth Hostel Group.
Merrilyn has managed the home well while finding time to teach in the same school, same grade, same room where she went to frist grade. After moving to California, she served as a volunteer teacher for fifteen years. She traveled extensively with and without Clint, always helping and supporting him well. She is an excellent librarian, knowing and loving books and helping others do the same. She is forever seeking, exploring and sharing new ideas. She is someone to know and enjoy.
Merrilyn and Clint have four children, Margaret, Larry, Bonnie and Janet. They have a home in Salt Lake City and one at 661 36th Street, Manhattan Beach, California, 90266.
