Information from Morris Benjamin's autobiography
According to the 1930 census, Mollie lists her arrival in the US as 1886 (her husband Morris also lists his arrival as 1886, though his naturalization papers say 1887). She lists country of origin as Ukraine.
In his autobiography, Morris Benjamin writes of Mollie's health problems and death at Roma and Roy's house. Starting in 1934, perhaps, "...I was very happy in my new environment. My work was not as confining now and gave me more time to be with my family. The responsibilities of remodeling our house, however, proved too much of a strain on Molly and she suffered a nervous breakdown. After several months in a hospital, she recovered and then, in order to keep her mind occupied and away from what she considered her special project, I hired a woman to be the landlady in Molly's place.
"Now I had more time to spend with her and the children at our Summer cottage at Mentor, and during the Winter months I tried to keep her mind occupied by taking her to shows, concerts, lectures, parties given by the family and friends. At one party given by Standard Knit, she was introduced to the officials and their families, including Martin Kaufman's sister, Irene.
"In order to entirely separate Molly from the apartments, we moved across the street to a small seven room house we owned. Everything seemed to be running smoothly when we went to visit Roma's family in Ravenna, Ohio for Easter Sunday in 1935.
"Molly seemed to be very happy. She played with her grandchildren [David and Jim] and enjoyed herself immensely. She never was in such good spirits. That night, shortly after she retired and I was about to get into my bed, she called to me and told me that her left arm was numb.I tried to massage the arm for a few minutes with no result. I called to Roy [Elliott] and he telephoned his family physician and told him to come immediately. When the doctor arrived in about fifteen minutes or so, she was completely paralyzed and before the doctor could do anything, she passed away of a cerebral hemorrhage." pp. 68-69
