I'm Jan Patterson and I descend from Nancy Jane Hansbrow and her first marriage with George M. Boykin.
Over the years I have believed, as many others have, that the S. W. Webber that Nancy married last was Seth W. Webber.
However, in documenting my files--with the help of others, I discovered that the S.W. that married Nancy Jane Hansbrow was not Seth, but his cousin Samuel W Webber, II Samuel s/o Samuel Webber and Sarah (Burke) Webber.
We, the other researchers and I, believe that the groom filled out the bottom of paperwork S. W. and at a later time a clerk put the Seth W. on the top because there were so many Seth Webbers in the area.
It is, I am told, definitely two different hand writings.
That coupled with the following makes me certain Samuel, not Seth was Nancy's husband:
1. Seth would have had two families going at once in two different areas if they were married.
2. Petition of BELLE WIGGINS in the matter of the estate of SAMUEL W. WEBBER, deceased for Letters of Administration . . . respectfully represents that SAMUEL W. WEBBER late of the County of Jefferson aforesaid, departed this life at his late residence in said County, on or about the 15th day of May, 1898. . . . .
That said deceased left surviving him NO widow and JOHN T. WEBBER, THULE WIGGINTON, BELLE WIGGINS, ALBERT WEBBER AND JULIUS WEBBER his children as heirs.
That your petitioner being the daughter of said deceased . . . by virtue of her right under the Statute she therefore prays that your Honor will grant Letters of Administration to JOHN T. WESTBROOK.
This document was signed by BELLE WIGGINS June 16, 1898.
All of the other papers in the Estate file say Samuel W. Webber.
Note: part of these children are from Nancy's Wigginton marriage and part from their marriage

3. There is a monument for Samuel W. Webber at Mt. Zion Cemetery, in the plot with member of the Boykin family.
It identified his Civil War Company as Co H, IL INF, no dates.
Nancy married first my gg grandfather George M. Boykin,
I believe Nancy is probably buried there in an unmarked grave as well.
4. Info from the Civil War Rosters online at Illinois Archives Samuel W. Webber PVT Co H 32 IL US INF age 18 when enlisted 10/21/1864, born Jefferson Co., IL so dob about 1846.
We found a Civil War Pension card for Samuel W. Webber Co. H, 32 IL INF, with Pressley P. Bond, Guardian.
George M. Boykin's mother, Mary Ann Holt, was first married to James B. Bond, Pressley P. Bond was her nephew.
Since Nancy married first George M. Boykin and had children by him it would make sense her nephew would be appointed guardian.
Because of all of this I have added a post'em to your rootsweb online tree that says:
Further investigation of the marriage record between S. W. Webber and Nancy Jane (Hansbrow)Boykin Wigginton Webber reveal that the Seth W was put in by someone other than the groom, SAMUEL W. Webber, not Seth, is the groom.
A petition against the will of Samuel W. Webber lists his children as those attributd to Seth and Nancy in most online trees, as well as a bequeath to Nancy's Wigginton children.
Nancy had preceeded him in death.
I also believe I might have figured out Nancy Jane's ancestry if you are interested in it. If you have anything on Nancy Jane I would be most interested in it as well. Jan who is still trying to find all she can on her gg grandmother in OK
