Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-192741
According to Jacobus, we do not know the parents or even the surname of Priscilla, the wife of Thomas Powell of New Haven. Thomas and Priscilla Powell had 6 daughters and no sons: Hannah, Priscilla, Mary, Martha, Martha, and Hester.[1]
The origins of the wife of Thomas Powell are unknown. Priscilla died after 29 September 1681, the date her husband Thomas Powell executed his will.[2]
Because nothing is known of Priscilla's parentage, the birth place previously listed for her, Mildenhall, Suffolk, England, has been removed. It is estimated that her husband was born about 1616, so that same estimated date is given for her.
It has been suggested that Priscilla Powell's maiden name was Whitson, and that her father was Stephen Lynn Whitson, but no sources have been found for that information so he has been removed as her father.
She is listed as Priscilla [?Whitson] in Torrey's New England marriages.[3]
Children listed in "List of Baptisms In the Church in New Haven, Conn., during the Ministry of Rev. John Davenport, from Nov 1639 to Nov 1666 taken from the Church Records & arranged alphabetically"[4]
[Where the name of the child is in italics it denotes that the name of the parent is not mentioned in the Church Record, but is supplied by the compiler from the town Registry of Births, Probate Records, or other sources of information. In all other cases the parent's name is taken from the Church Record. Where the name of the mother is given from the Record, that of the husband is supplied, when known. The date of birth, when it occurs in the Church Record, is put following the name. The dates in brackets are births from the Town Records. The name of the father is always entered in the Town Record of births. The year of the dates commences 25 Mar. H.W.]
