David Halberstam, [Kshanover] (ch#5)

Rebbe David HALBERSTAM, the 5th son of the ADMOR of Sanz and the Kr'Shanover Rav, was the Rebbe of Kr'shanov (or Chrzanow in Polish), just a few short miles from the infamous Auschwitz death camp. Auschwitz [Oscwiecim in Polish, known pre-holocaust by the Jews as Oshpitzen] was a town with a lot of Bobover and Sanzer Chassidim.

R'Daviv was married twice:

1. First wife was Achsa (עכסה); they had 2 sons and 4 daughters:

1.2. Aryey Leib HALBERSTAM married the cousin of his father Miriam HALBERSTAM

1.5. Miriam HALBERSTAM m. Jehiel HOROWITZ (1850-1928)

1.6. Joseph Zeev HALBERSTAM (b. ~1837, d~ 1890) m. Zusa RUBIN

2. Second wife was Leah Zissah Zinz; they had 2 sons and 1 daughter:

2.1. Moses HALBERSTAM (d. 1915) first married UNGER. Moses HALBERSTAM remarried (2) Sterna Sarah SCHNEERSOHN daughter of Shneur Zalman Mordechai SCHNEERSOHN (the Zhitomer Rav) the brother of Sterna Sarah SCHNEERSOHN who was the wife of Rabbi Shalom Dover SCHNEERSOHN (b. 1866, d. 1920), the fifth Rebbe of Chabad.

אחר לידת שני בנים נפטרה זו' הראשונה, אח"כ נשא את הרבנית לאה זיסל לבית צינץ נכדת בעל "יד הקטנה"

נתקבל לאב"ד קרשאנוב בשנת תרי"א
