About Rachell West / Denington
Rachell Gilpin was born to Thomas and Joan Gilpin of Warborough on 14 April 1660 [non-coverted date], the fifth of seven children listed to Thomas and Joan in the Monthly Meeting of Reading and Warborough register.
Rachell was married first to Thomas West, son of William West of Long Crendon in 1682. Intentions to marry are found transcribed in “The Minute Book of the Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends for the Upperside of Buckinghamshire 1660 - 1690” p102,103,104. They requested and received permission to marry at Warborough in Oxfordshire.
Rachell and Thomas West were the confirmed parents of the following children: Thomas, William, Joseph, John, and Rachel.
Rachell West, widdow, married Jeffrey Denington 25 January 1695. Relations in attendance and signing the marriage included Thomas Gilpin Sr., Thomas Gilpin Jr., John West, Moses West, Sarah West, and Ann Gilpin.
Rachell and Jeffrey were the confirmed parents of Elizabeth Denington born “14th: 7 mo” in 1696 [non-converted]. Eliz Denington will later sign as a witness at the marriage of half-sister Rachell West to Francis Dawson, “25th of 11mo called January” in 1714.
“Rachell Denington wife of Jeffrey Denington aged about 40 years Dyed the 12th day of December 1700, and was buried in D° [Uxbridge] ground.”
