About Salome Ann Allen

f "Henry Allen returned to Grand Gulf and his law practice. There he met a young girl, Salome Anne Crane, who was the daughter of a well known planter near Rodney, Mississippi. Her parents delayed giving their blessing for a marriage "...as they apparently looked upon Allen as a fortune hunter." [C&S, p. 18) After waiting a while, the couple eloped and were married on July 4, 1844.
