Colonel Samuel Magruder was the son of Alexander(MacGregor) Magruder and his first wife. Originally, family members noted that he was born in 1654. Samuel Magruder was born in 1654 at "Good Luck" Prince George's County. Md. He was Civil and Military Officer of Prince George's County in 1696, Gentleman Justice 1697- 1705, Member of the House of Burgesses 1704-7, and one of His Majesty's Commissioners in 1696. Died in 1711. He married Sarah Beall, daughter of Ninian and Ruth (Moore) Beall.

Colonel Samuel Magruder was the son of Alexander(MacGregor) Magruder and his first wife. Originally, family members noted that he was born in 1654. Research by current family members indicates conflicting information for both Samuel and his wife, Sarah. Each researcher has the option to choose their own information to record.

Samuel received 500 acres of land known as "Good Luck" from his father. The property was originally located in Long Old Fields, Calvert County, Maryland. When the boundary lines changed, it was then located in Prince George's County.

He served as a Vestryman at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Baden in 1692. He was a Civil and Military officer in 1692 and 1705. He was a member of the Maryland Assembly until 1707.

Traditional records note that Samuel married Sarah Beall, daughter of Ninian Beall and Ruth Moore. (According to the linked memorial for Sarah, she was the widow of Francis Watts). Other research notes that he married Sarah Mills.
