Grave Inscription: "To the memory of / ANN / The beloved wife of / RICHARD HULLEY / who departed this life / Dec 1844 / Aged 61 years / Hark a voice divides the sky / Happy are the faithful dead! / In the Lord who sweetly die / They from all their toils are freed"

[Age puts her birth as 1783, unless she's adding a couple of years, as her husband did?

Anne:

  • She says she's 33 in 1820 ship list = 1787
  • He says she's 61 in Dec 1844 gravestone = 1783/4 (Actually 3 yrs younger?)
  • Birth of her last child in 1830/31 fits better with 1786/7 birthdate.

Richard:

  • Born 1785 - Dies 1880 = 94/5 but burial register says 99yrs 10 mnths in burial register (Actually 4 to 5 yrs younger)
  • Also says he's 19 in 1807 enlistment papers = b 1788 (Actually 3 yrs older - 22yrs old)
  • He says he's 34 in 1820 = b 1786

Seems safest to assume the date she gave herself in 1820 is the correct one, given the birthdate of her youngest, and the fact that Richard doesn't seem especially good at dates! Sharon Apr 2017]

-----------------------------------

Ann's maiden name was more than likely spelt as Brannigan. There are numerous Families called Brannigan in Co Cork but none known as Brangan. My wife's family come from Co Cork, only a few miles from Bandon . Liam Whyte. Ireland
