Adoption===At the death of his father (Nicholas Mosley, in 1733-34), John Parker MOSLEY was apparently informally adopted by his godfather, Sir Oswald MOSLEY, the 2nd Baronet of Rolleston and Ancoats (who never married and had no children of his own). It was presumably Sir Oswald who financed John's early involvement in the hat manufacturing business, and (despite the mis-spent youth), Sir Oswald's will designated John as his heir if his brother (the Rev. Sir John MOSLEY, 1706-1779) also died without issue, which did indeed happen. <ref>Mosley: Page 42,50, 56, 57</ref>
