Will of SUSANNA MEADOR - written: 20 Jan 1818 - Franklin Co, VA, proved: 2 Feb 1818
I, SUSANNA MEADOR of Franklin County do hereby make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say:
I give to MY SONS JAMES MEADOR and JOSEPH MEADOR that is to say (Negroes): TOBY, STEPHEN, FAN & her 2 children (FAG) and JOHN to be divided between them as they think proper and in consideration of this legacy they are to give to each of THEIR SISTERS, that is to say $50 each: FRANCIS SIMMONS, ANNEY SIMMONS, SUSANNA MARTIN, RHODA BLANKENSHIP, MILLY CLIBORN to be paid each of them as soon as their circumstances will admit and $1 to the HEIRS of JESSE MEADOR - $1 to the HEIRS of JOHN MEADOR, JONAS MEADOR, JOEL MEADOR, ISHAM MEADOR and JOB MEADOR $1; $1 to the heirs of MARY HURD, to each of them, their heirs or assigns and the balance of my property to be equally divided between JAMES MEADOR, JOSEPH MEADOR and FRANCES SIMMONS to each of them their heirs Executors or assigns forever.
I do hereby constitute and appoint my 2 sons JAMES & JOSEPH MEADOR executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills or Testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of Jan 1818..

1818 Feb 2 - At a Court held for Franklin County the last will and Testament of SUSANNA MEADOR, deceased was produced in Court by JAMES MEADOR, one of the Executors herein named and proved by the oath of FRANCIS G. HARWOOD & JOHN FARMER and ordered to be recorded. JAMES MEADOR took the oath together with JAMES FARMER & MOSES GREER JR, his securities and entered into Bond in penalty of $3,000.. Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate.. Liberty is reserved to JOSEPH MEADOR the other Executor in said Will named to join in the Probate when he shall think fit.
