About Wife of Moshe Lazers Isserles
RESEARCH NOTE: Citing A. Landau/B. Wachstein, "Jeudische Privatbriefe aus dem Jahr 1619" (from Prague to Wien) (Wien/Liepzig 1911), Jacobi (p. Vol 2, p. 426, 15.2 and 15.2m) says that the father of the spouse of Rabbi Moshe Lazers Isserles, of Cracow died in 1619 in Berestecko (Wolhinya). Jacobi goes on to say that the spouse of Rabbi Moshe Lazers Isserles, of Cracow ought not to be identified with the daughter of Rabbi Naphtali Tzvi Hirsch Sofer. This is a point which needs to be checked: do Landau/Wachstein in fact say, as cited by Jacobi, that her father died in 1619 in Berestecko, and did Rabbi Naphtali Tzvi Hirsch Sofer die in 1619 in Berestecko (Wolhinya)? If so then the current parentage is correct and the date of death for Rabbi Naphtali Tzvi Hirsch Sofer should be adjusted to 1619. Otherwise, there could be an error here and she could be the spouse of: Moshe Reb Leizers Katzin, of Vilna, with the spouse of Rabbi Moshe Lazers Isserles, of Cracow remaining unknown. (19 OCT 2022)
