About William S Bonnell
William S. Bonnell was born in Erie PA. He married Elizabeth Hogan. Research shows they had 5 boys and 2 girls born in PA. (In daughter Emily's obituary it says she is the youngest of 8 children). At about age 67 William S. and Elizabeth, age 61, with their 4 grown sons, John, Wilson, William and James P., journey to Rosendale WI, in two covered wagons. Some of the boys were married with families. Their son William H. drives one of the team of horses. Elizabeth’s brother drives the other covered wagon. Once in Wisconsin William S Bonnell bought 75 acres of land in Eldorado County. His son William H Bonnell bought plot of land next to his. Prior to their move to WI, daughter Nancy marries in Eri PA and moves to Illinois. Her sister Emily also goes to Illinois and later marries. After several years they are neighbors. Son George Bonnell remains in PA with his wife and children.

Waterford PA. Census reports have Willis Bonnel and his wife in the same Census as William H. Bonnell and his wife Margaret Gobel. The years in the 1850 Census the ages work out for all four Bonnell's. Trying to find the Birth or Death Certificate for William Bonnell. (Spelling is different in the Census)
daryan40@aol.com Hi Sherre,
I see you have been looking for information on our elusive John Bonnell. If anyone is able to help, it would be Steve Bonnell that is in charge of keeping tract of the Bonnell/Bunnell DNA Project. Keep in touch with the Bonnell blog and if you have any direct male Bonnell's in your family, get together and pay for the test that Steve recommends. The story in my husbands family was that he was "Irish" but no one has proof of that information. I have located diatant cousins of my husband's and they all have the same story, so I guess the only way we will be able to track this down is through DNA. My husband was not a direct line as you can see by the last name of Ryan. His Grandmother was a Bonnell, Anna. The line is solid back to John Bonnell, but I do not even have proof of his wife's name as I find it listed as Nancy Farraday & Nancy Pandry. They may be the same person or two different parties, dependidng on the records. The DAR records leave a lot of unanswered questions for me. You will find a large group trying to find our "John Bonnell." Nice to hear from another "relative." Darlene
