Sometime after William's father Job Bowers was killed by Tories when he came home to see his newborn son, only days old, his mother Charity was re-married to Samuel Karr. In the 1830's the Karr's relocated to Coweta County, Georgia. William remained in Franklin County.
William and Polly had 13 children. Those not yet "linked" include:
Elizabeth "Betsie" Bowers, born November 3, 1805. Died June 20, 1888. Married Jesse Smith.
Nancy Bowers, born October 8, 1807. Died March 12, 1896. She married 1st - John Merritt (died 1843). Married 2nd - Pleasant H. Holbrook (widower of Mary Harbour Holbrook)
Judge William T. Bowers, born February 12, 1816. Died February 12, 1872. He married 1st a Miss Hayes. Married 2nd Eliza F. Glover.
Asa Bowers, born March 12, 1818. Died of disease during the Civil War at Farmville, Virginia May 12, 1862. He married Sarah Elizabeth Brown.
Charlotte Bowers, born February 8, 1824. Drowned at a young age.
Elbert Marion Bowers, born October 11, 1832. Died of disease in Virginia during the Civil War May 6, 1862. He married Mary Ann E. Brown.
