About William Monk

Will the real William Monk please stand up? Contrary to popular belief William Monk nor his parents ever lived in south Carolina,William was born in Dobbs Co NC ( present Greene Co),he moved to Wilkes Co Georgia in 1785 with his parents, his father Menan traveled to Georgia with John Monk who was his cousin.

Menan Monk and the brothers John and Silas Monk moved from Wilkes Co to Boggy gut creek in Columbia Co Georgia where Menan and John were found guilty of manslaughter in Oct 1791,they along with Samuel Pool killed their neighbor Edward Prater who was a horse thief, all three men were pardoned. Samuel Pool's daughter Talitha married Silas Monk Jr.

William Monk was NOT a Rev war soldier, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
