About William Sheldon, of Salem Village

William Sheldon was born about 1622 in Bakewell Parish, Derbyshire, England, son of Godfrey Sheldon (1599–1671) and Alice Frost (1600–1670) He was christened at Bakewell on 5 February 1622;
William died 2 December 1691 at the age of 69 due to injuries from a fall subsequent to an attack by Native Americans.
Godfrey’s home was a fort during the Indian Wars when he moved to Salem. His son, William, inherited it.
He married (1) Sarah Frost (~1633 - 1653), with whom he may not have had children, and (2) Rebecca Scadlocke (Scarlett) about 1664 probably at Scarborough, York, Maine.
William and Rebecca had the following children:

- Godfrey (1666 - 1690 killed by Indians)

- Lydia (born 1669 - 31 March 1746) married Ambrose Boden 14 December 1693

Biography
When William Sheldon was christened on 5 February 1622 in Bakewell, Derbyshire, England, his father, Godfrey Sheldon, was 23 and his mother, Alice Frost, was 22. He married Rebecca Scadlock in 1664, in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts. They were the parents of at least four sons and six daughters.
In 1675, William was living in Cumberland County, Maine. "Early in the autumn of 1675 they were warned to assemble at the garrison, and they removed their families to Sheldon's garrison, at Black Point." [source?]
William died at Salem Village, Massachusetts, on 2 December 1691."W(illia)m Sheldon, 'cut his knee, hurt by a fall above two weeks, died 2 Dec. 1691, aged 80 years' according to this record." [source?] William was was buried in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.
