WILL OF WILLIS BREAZEALE, SENR.

In the name of God, Amen. I Willis Breazeale Senr, of the State of South Carolina, in the County of Abbeville being in perfect health of body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, cawling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto God that gave it and my body I recommend to be buried in the earth in desent Christian Burial at the descresion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same by the Almighty Power of God. And as touching such wordly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the Same in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah the sum of twenty five pounds sterling money during her widowhood and prudent behavior as well as my Negrow girl to wait upon her during her widowhood and prudent behavior. The Negroes name is Cizzoe. Also my beloved sons Elisha Breazeale I give and bequeath my Negrow woman named Ca-te as also her daughter named Cizzoe by him and the heirs of his body freely to be possessed and enjoyed forever. But if the said Elisha B--- should decease leaving no such heirs as mentioned above then the said Negrow shall rever to and belong properly to Benjamin Franklin Breazeale my son. But if said Benjamin ----- ------ should decease before he shall have heirs or heirs lawfully begotten then the fore named negroes shall revert to and belong properly to Kinsman Breazeale and Archibald Breazeale. Also to my beloved son Benjamin Franklin Breazeale I give and bequeath the plantation whereon I now dwell containing 200 acres by him and his heirs freely to possess that is to say the heirs of his body lawfully begotten then said land shall revert to his younger brothers Kinsman and Archibald with all and singular the houses orchards fencing water and water courses. Also to my three sons Drury Willis and Elijah Breazeale I give to each one of them the sum of one shilling sterling if the same shall be lawfully demanded as also to my three daughters Mary Sarah and Patty -----

The Reside and Remained of my estate if any there should be after my lawful debts is paid I give and bequeath to my sons George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Kinsman and Archibald that is to say the remained of my lands livestock household furniture plantation tools, books and book debts, bonds, bills notes of hand moneys etc to be equally divided among them. Also to my old Negrow woman name Newcorer I give and bequeath her freedom to be no longer a servant after my decease. Also my will is that my Executors do not let said old negrow suffer either for food or raiment whilst my estate is sufficient to support her also the money bequeathed to my wife Sarah if she should behave imprudent of keep a disorderly house after my decease is to be taken from her and equally divided between my four youngest sons by her begotten and I do hereby constitute make and ordain my beloved brothers Drury Breazeale, Senr. and my son Elisha and Sarah my wife the whole and sole executors and Executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby disavow --- former wills etc.

Signed by Willis Breazeale and sealed and wittnessed by Alexander Clark, Thomas McKedy and Robert Clark, Novemeber 6, 1794. Proven March 25, 1795.

(Note: The wife Sarah & son Elisha qualified as executors.)
