Ross and Cromarty is a registration county and lieutenancy area within and under the Highland Region Local Government of Scotland.

It is bounded by Sutherland on the North and Inverness-shire on the West, with the sea bounding it on two sides. The island portion consists an area that lies North of a line drawn from Loch Resort to Loch Seaforth across the island of Lewis. It is bounded on the W., N. and E. by the Atlantic, and S. by Harris, the southern part of Lewis. Many islands, all but eleven uninhabited, are scattered principally off the west coasts of Lewis and the mainland.
