When we first introduced Record Matches and Smart Matches™ on Geni, we promised that additional historical record collections would be coming in the future. Today we are excited to announce that our parent company MyHeritage has entered into a strategic partnership with leading genealogy organization FamilySearch; this partnership will bring billions of global historical records and family tree profiles spanning hundreds of years to MyHeritage.

What does this mean for Geni? These new additions to MyHeritage’s burgeoning collection of records and profiles will be made available to you through your Record Matches and Smart Matches™. This will bring significant new opportunities for Geni users to grow their family trees and enrich their family history.

As the foundation of family history research, historical records are vital for uncovering new information about your ancestors and building a family tree of the highest quality. Family tree profiles are helpful for connecting with other family history researches and reuniting with long-lost relatives.

In the coming months, MyHeritage will add more than 2 billion records from FamilySearch’s global historic record collections and profiles from its online family tree to SuperSearch, MyHeritage’s family history search engine for historical records and newspapers.

These new global collections include vital record essentials such as censuses, birth, baptism, marriage, and death records. These records originate from all over Europe and Latin America as well as the United States and Canada, Asia and other regions and span across hundreds of years of family history.

Using MyHeritage’s powerful matching technologies, Geni users will receive Smart Matches™ and Record Matches whenever any of these new records and profiles match your family tree. The records will also be accessible directly through your relatives’ Geni profiles through the “Research this person” link. A simple click of the link will automatically take you to MyHeritage’s SuperSearch results for that profile and bring you one step closer to uncovering the mysteries of your heritage.

Some of these collections will be made available for free. For viewing others, MyHeritage’s existing data subscription will be required. A data subscription provides unlimited access to all Record Matches and Smart Matches™ on Geni, as well as full access to SuperSearch, MyHeritage’s search engine for historical records, including newspapers and census, birth, marriage and death records.

With the addition of this treasure trove of global content, together we can realize our goal of making Geni’s World Family Tree the most comprehensive and definitive family tree for the entire world.
